Mouraria By Night
After the conquest of Lisbon in 1147, the Moors heve been confined to a kind of ghetto called Mouraria, which is now one of the city's oldest and poorest districts. New projects are giving life to this place and have recently put it on travel guides. These shots were taken on the Mouraria Light Walk I posted on a couple of days ago.

"Frágil"
Installation at the church of the 'Santo Antão-o-Velho' College (1594), one of the highlights of the Mouraria Light Walk, a fantastic night tour in one of Lisbon's oldest districts.

"Summer Challenge"
MUDE-Museum of Design and Fashion at downtown Lisbon
Some very good temporary exhibitions can currently be seen in this amazing space, including a tribute to Elsa Schiaparelli. Stupidly taking photos inside is not allowed.

"Marilyn"
"Marilyn" is the name of these gigantic shoes, maybe Joana Vasconcelos' most famous creation made of stainless steel pots and pans and their lids, now on display at the Ajuda National Palace (previous post). Don't miss this exhibition if you have the chance.

Ajuda National Palace
The construction of this palace began in 1796 on the site of a temporary wooden building constructed to house the royal family after the 1755 Earthquake and Tsunami which destroyed the whole downtown Lisbon. When the royal family had to flee to Brazil in 1807, following the invasion of Portugal by French troops (Napoleonic period), the work proceeded very slowly and lasted until the second half of the 19th century, when this huge building finally became a permanent residence of the royal family during the reign of King Luis I and his wife, Maria Pia of Savoy.

"A Mimosa da Lapa"
Favourite grocery shop at Lapa neighbourhood, Lisbon
It's amazing what you can find here, I guess many of the goods are not for sale anywhere else in Lisbon, maybe just in the countryside. The room in the background is used for exhibitions, performances and so on.

Carcavelos Beach
Hot winds have been blowing from the Sahara Desert. Today is supposed to be the worse day. This photo was not taken today, of course - I will not go out until night falls - but I wonder how crowded beaches will be despite the warnings we constantly hear on the news. I really don't understand people sometimes, especially some crazy tourists who look like boiled shrimps at the end of the day.

INSIDE OUT New Project: HOPE
The INSIDE OUT Project is back in Lisbon. This year the statment is HOPE (we really need some hope in this country!) and children will be the only stars. More than 130 kids will have their faces on big posters to be pasted on the same wall we've chosen for last year's project. Photo shoots are in progress and my job is the making of.
Those who are not familiared with the INSIDE OUT global project check the official website.
Those who have not seen our project in Lisbon last year, check these posts.
